Year 3: The Social Media Matter

The third anniversary post  has finally arrived. Almost 3 years late but better late than never so here it goes.

I always imagined that we would be one of those couples who would be replying to each others tweets and having a good banter, commenting on each others Facebook posts and all of that. As is apparent, I am a very social person and I love to have fun both on and off social media. You won't believe this but on my mental checklist of the qualities I wanted in a man, the list included being active on Twitter with at least a 1000 tweets. Oh yeah, I was that specific. You can imagine my disappointment when I met Kojo and he had a paltry 500 tweets or lower mpo. In that moment, I am thankful that I was sensible enough to see that the number of tweets were not as important. Now that I look back, it is so funny. When Kojo finally hit a thousand tweets, he dedicated it to me. Smh.

So in the beginning when we were dating, even though Kojo was not as active on social media as I was, from time to time he will comment on my posts and that was okay for me. Ah, after we got married, and I joined him in Hong Kong, I would post or tweet something and expect that when we get home from the office, he will make a comment about it or something but nada. I will post something and tag him, no reaction. Ah, I just chalked it to him not being on Facebook as much and then there was some other day that I was scrolling on Facebook and saw that he was going back and forth with his friends so I was like " oh saa ah, Okaaay". So I asked Kojo why he was commenting on his friends posts and ignoring mine. He said that I was posting too much on Facebook and I was crowding his timeline so he snoozed me. Ei! I was not going to to take it lying down ooo (pun just occurred to me on a second read🤷🏾‍♀️). I was really upset. Semi-big fight chale but Kojo could not be bothered.

I think he later did not snooze me after the 30 days elapsed but he wasn't commenting on my posts still. Me naa I got tired of bugging him at some point and decided that I will not tag or mention him in my posts anymore. I will just go ahead and post my stuff and have my fun. To be honest, I was pained small but then again after some time I decided it was okay. It also helped that there were those who are sole ninjas on their social media pages and their significant others never commented, while others were doing lobi lobi all the time.

Interestingly, Kojo started being a bit active on Twitter. So I'll mention him every now and then and sometimes, he will send something interesting to the DM. I mean, that's not bad. So I take am like that.

The whole lovey dovey thing dierr me dierr when I see it, it is nice for me paa. I find it so very cute. Some of them are cringey but you know the ones where they are throwing digs at each other no and doing those smart retort things no, eh herh. That is what I am talking about!

So it took a while but I really came to appreciate that everyone's relationship is different and just because I'm seeing my friends and their partners always going at each on their social media pages did not mean that it also had to be the same for me.

After a while, Kojo deleted his Facebook. I did not have anything to do with it ooo. I promise. He had his own reasons. Maybe my wahala was part 🤷🏾‍♀️ only tangentially.

Now I see that what is important is the way your partner treats you off social media. Does he/she respect you? Do you have an agreeable and fair arrangement when it comes to domesticate chores, are you communicating when you have issues? I think ultimately those are the most important things because sometimes people will chopping love in your face but the back matter no, daabi daabi.

If you are like me, I assure you, there is really no need to be upset about this kind of thing. If you had pictured your married life a certain way, it is sometimes difficult to make adjustments but chale if you don't you will be upset a lot of the time over little things that will snowball so just chill and take it easy.

Those people who are always reporting me to Kojo too, you have done well paa. Everyday na "Ei have you seen what Emelia has written on Facebook? Of course if a post is also going to affect him, I let him know.

Are you a team both of you on social media, sole ninja or are both of you are out there but lurking.

So yeah, that's my blog intended for the third anniversary with some pictures from the 3rd vacay. This draft has been sitting in here for ever so finally happy to see it make it out.
Tallinn T.V Tower, Estonia
I don't know the story about the statue but this was in Karkskrona, Sweden.

Have a great day. Bye bye.
